Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Kieran Tierney after restructuring our £25m offer and the Celtic left-back is keen to play in the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.
Unai Emery is set to smash Arsenal’s transfer record to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille with the attacker expected to finalise his bid-money move to the Emirates Stadium at some point today after undergoing his medical on Tuesday.
After adding to our attack, Emery is now focussing his attention on strengthening our defence after we conceded 51 league goals last season and the boss has identified a new left-back as a priority due to on-going concerns over Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac.
We’ve been chasing Tierney all summer and a deal looked to have collapsed last week when Arsenal chiefs refused to increase our second £25m offer which was rejected by Celtic because the down payment fell £5m short of their valuation.
Although he’s content at his boyhood club, the Daily Mail claims Tierney has made it clear he would like the chance to test himself in the Premier League and Celtic are willing to do business if Arsenal pay a larger portion of the £25m fee upfront.
The newspaper says Emery is desperate to bring the 22-year-old to north London and Arsenal are now on the verge of agreeing on a deal after restructuring our £25m offer so it’s more to Celtic’s liking.
The Scottish Daily Mail are also carrying a similar story as they say a deal for Tierney is now expected to be concluded over the coming days following fresh negotiations between the two clubs on Tuesday night.
